Community Initiatives

United Way of Norman manages the following initiatives to fill gaps between community needs and agency response.

Financial Alliance of Norman (FAN)
The Financial Alliance of Norman is comprised of local organizations with the common purpose of promoting the financial stability of local families and the community as a whole. It builds upon the strengths of its members to provide services and resources without duplicating similar efforts in the community.

Working With What You’ve Got
Part of the United Way of Norman’s Financial Alliance, this is a free one-hour session discussing ways to make ends meet, basic budgeting, information about community resources, and assistance with access to banking.

Understanding Your Credit Score
Part of the United Way of Norman’s Financial Alliance, during this free session you will obtain your credit report, and get one-on-one guidance and education about your credit report from a reputable financial institution. They will talk you through ways to improve your score and fix items that were recorded correctly.

Fiscally Fit Boot Camp
Part of the United Way of Norman’s Financial Alliance, the Fiscally Fit Boot Camp is a free, fun, and intensive 4 to 6 week workshop series designed to give you the tools you need to build a successful financial future.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (Site Sponsor)
Does your household earn less than $52,000 a year? Then you are eligible for free help filing your taxes at one of Norman’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites. Free tax help is made possible through collaboration between AARP, the Aging Services Division, CSBI, the Financial Alliance of Norman, the IRS, the University of Oklahoma College of Law, Pioneer Library Systems and United Way of Norman.
