United Way's local organization in Chile, Sociedad Activa, along with other United Way organizations throughout Latin America have mobilized to respond to the catastrophic earthquake that hit Chile on the morning of February 27. Their staff, volunteer leaders and resources are responding, and will work together to determine the most pressing long-term recovery needs in the areas affected by this earthquake.
United Way's role is to support long-term recovery efforts to rebuild lives and communities devastated by the disaster and to address educational, financial and health-related challenges.
