Food pantries across central Oklahoma are now stocked up with donations from the Extreme Food Drive... thanks to you!
The drive was held in combination with the Extreme Makeover Home Edition build in the Slaughterville area, February 1 through 7. United Way of Norman partnered with Ideal Homes to collect 23,000 pounds of food. The community soared past that goal, donating 33,800 pounds of food.
Sooner Mall donated space to store all that food, and this week staff and volunteers from food pantries in the Norman, Purcell and Lexington areas dropped by to pick it up. Your generous donations of food and money to buy food benefited the following 17 organizations:
Cross Pointe Church
First Baptist Church of Norman
Aging Services
Alameda Church of Christ
Community Action
First Baptist Church of Lexington
Food & Shelter for Friends
Full Circle Adult Day Center
McFarlin United Methodist Church
Meals on Wheels
